BS Valentine’s

February 16th, 2010

February 14th – I love it.

Daniel and I choose to have a BS Valentine’s this year and really outdid ourselves: I got him two books by Dan Simmons and he got me Star Trek on blu-ray. He had fancy steak and I had heart shaped crab cakes. That crack is… significant. I’m sure there’s a metaphor somewhere.

We rounded out the day with BS apple pie – which is similar to regular apple pie EXCEPT since I had no top crust I had to quickly fashion something with whatever mats were in my kitchen. Luckily I had some vegetable shortening and flour. Just add some extra sugar and it doesn’t come out half bad.

Regrettably I did not plan ahead candle wise. I had no tapers and was instead reduced to stacking up many many tea lights. I also busted out a big heart shaped candle which I acquired somewhere unknown. It’s been in my possession more than 4 years and less than 10 so there’s a clue.

In Short:
-BS Valentine’s = BS gifts
-When people want pie they will make it happen
-I have a lot of objects with origin unknown

Out of Town

December 20th, 2009

I’m going out of town soon. Very soon.

Daniel and I are fleeing the coast for the serene comfort of middle-west America. (Daniel keeps accidentally calling it the mideast because we’re on the west coast now and Minnesota is, therefore, east of us. I laughed the first time but now I just nod disappointedly.)

We’re not worried about being away that long though. My friend’s going to check in on the place. A lot. And then there are my dogs. My really big, ferocious dogs. I just hope I don’t forget to set the deadly, invisible laser beam security. And I really hope I remember to disable it when we get back.

Should be a good trip!

Briefly:
-Daniel: still kind of strange.
-Living on the coast is cooler than living in the middle… not weather wise of course.  No, it’s much warmer here.
-Don’t break into my house while I’m gone or you’ll regret it.

Stringed Instrument

November 4th, 2009

Daniel says it’s time to get blogging, and perhaps it is.

Talked to my dad today. After a month of me not posting new comics, he called to ask what was going on. He also bought himself a violin. I forgot to ask why. After we hung up, I begrudgingly looked through my pile of potential comics and found something that made me giggle. One hour later – viola! New comic.

I made pasta for dinner. While I was stirring the noodles, Daniel attempted to help himself to a bite of mozzarella cheese – unshredded mozzarella, that is. He took a bite; I told him that wasn’t how adults behaved and a terrible grimace appeared on his face as he walked over to the garbage. “This Cheese has gone bad,” he proclaimed. Serves him right, I say.

Daniel’s been on my bad side ever since he failed to support my latest endeavor: growing a pumpkin. I carved up one last Saturday (and after many margaritas somehow managed not to cut myself). While scooping out the seeds, I found one that was just starting to split open. As in the way seeds split when they’re going to start growing into something awesome. It’s wrapped up in a wet paper towel on my window ledge now. Well I can’t put it outside… someone might steal it.

In sum:
-Dad’s going to become a violin player (or perhaps just a musical instrument collector of some sort)
-Daniel doesn’t like moldy cheese
-I’m growing my own pumpkin.
